Did you know that ‘Double tap to awake’ in Amber is built right into the OS/Firmware ?
The recently released & continuously releasing update across the Globe, ‘Amber’ from Nokia, brought with itself a handful of new features and one amongst them is ‘Double tap to awake’. First seen in Nokia N9, this feature received rave reviews from across the blogosphere and thus Nokia made sure that it’s there in your Lumia too.
However till today I was under the impression that it’s activated with the help of an system app ‘display+touch’ like below.
But I was wrong, infact the feature is built right in to the OS (read it Firmware). Yes, we knew that it was coming with Amber/GDR2 but I always felt that it was enabled with the help of ‘display+touch’ system app but it’s not so. Infact, the app is there to just disable it and how do I know about it ?
I did a hard reset of my Lumia 920 today because my device is kind of suffering from heating issue & I wanted to do a testing of it. So when my Lumia woke-up after the reset today, I found that ‘Lumia Amber’ was missing from under ‘extras+info’ but that’s due to the system app not being up-to-date & ofcourse I was under impression that none of the features like ‘Glance Screen’ & ‘Double tap to awake’ will be present unless I update my system apps. But my Lumia proved me wrong because I accidentally tapped my device a few times & BAM ! the screen glew-up on me. And I was like what ? how ? .. & the rest you know
Thought of sharing with you guys .. Cheers !
