Just some time back we covered about WhatsApp private beta hitting version 2.11.572 and bringing improvements like Zero lag while scrolling or zooming media files, ability to add captions to photos & videos, ability to crop & rotate photos before sharing, ability to archive chats & groups and support for high resolution screens.

Now a new update for WhatsApp private beta which takes the app to version 2.11.580.0 is out and is said to be fully compatible with Windows Phone 8.1.

New Change-log

  • New user interface for image preview window
  • An option to add captions to the images that you are sharing
  • Now you can see the number of participants in a group
  • Hold for 1 year groups messages. (I am also trying to understand this)
  • Status of when audio is heard
  • Several new features in the settings menu.
  • Menu of archived conversations
  • The font size of the home of conversations and settings slightly reduced for screens with higher resolution.
  • Status of number of unread messages in each contact (check image below)

WhatsApp Beta

The above update is said to be very close for a public release. Last we saw public version of WhatsApp getting updated in June so a lots of hopes are attached to this version to deliver on speed, battery and other improvements.
