Microsoft unveiled two new Lumias viz. Lumia 640 & Lumia 640 XL at the recently held MWC in Barcelona along with a cool new foldable Bluetooth Keyboard.

To the surprise of many, the Lumias in question here were loaded with MS’s latest OS called Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 or GDR2.

Update 2 aka GDR2 was initially supposed to make appearance late last year along with MS’s purported flagship ‘McLaren’ which did not happen as the launch plan was scrapped. Post which MS started incorporating some of the features of GDR2 in Update 1.

Now MS has loaded a version of GDR2 on 640 & 640 XL & here’s the change-log known so far of that

  • Support for Bluetooth Keyboard(s)
  • New Settings page UI
  • Ability to lock the phone using Virtual Navigation Bar (in supported devices like 730, 640, 630 etc)
  • Arrow with circle at bottom of start screen is now replaced with an Arrow & ‘All Apps’ written besides it

Above is the change-log that one can make out from video but that’s not it. I am sure, there will be more to GDR2 which Microsoft shall reveal soon.

Here’s a video that shows all of it in action
